WHY SHOULD WE WORK WITH A COLLEGE COUNSELOR?
There's a severe shortage of guidance counselors in our public schools, so the ratio of students to guidance counselors is 482 to 1 nationally. In California, that ratio 945 to 1; we rank last in the country.
College admissions are also getting more competitive. For example, in 2018 Stanford admitted 4.3% of applicants, whereas a decade ago the admission rate was 9.5%.
Working one-on-one with an expert can provide a competitive edge and peace of mind.

WHAT SHOULD WE LOOK FOR IN AN ADMISSION CONSULTANT?
Competence and chemistry.
Those with more skill and experience can help students increase their chances of success. And an excellent relationship with the counselor is also crucial, since your teen may have to discuss extremely personal topics in his/her personal statements. That's why I offer a complimentary 30-minute phone consultation to determine if we're a match.

WHY SHOULD WE CHOOSE you?
Very few counselors will take the time and effort to provide students with uniquely tailored approaches to applying to specific colleges. This is especially important with California schools, where popular departments are impacted and are thus much more competitive. Beyond the GPA and SAT/ACT score, I will consider other factors including your education, graduate school, and career goals to create a strategic path for your application. One of my students had aspirations of pursuing a specific field that traditionally requires a graduate degree. She was genuinely passionate about this career choice but was not excited about going to graduate school. I helped her connect with professionals in the field who gave my student helpful advice on different undergraduate degree options and potential corporate avenues to get her foot in the door without a master's degree. My student is now experiencing her dream, studying at a highly rated department in the field. This is just an example of the lengths I will go to in paving your educational path.
DO YOU GUARANTEE ADMISSION?
The admission process is complex and there are many factors such as grades, test scores, and extracurricular activities, etc. that are out of our control. Therefore, I do not guarantee admission into any college, which is why I work with students to create a balanced college list.
