Annie SUN
Counseling and sat Expert
I graduated from MIT (BS) and Stanford (MS), and have been guiding students through the college admissions process for over 15 years and as an SAT tutor for over 20 years as owner of ABC Educational Consulting. While studying polymer chemistry at MIT, I was bit by the teaching bug at The Princeton Review where I began learning the ins and outs of every standardized test the Educational Testing Service charges us to take. There, I taught classes and provided private tutoring for the SAT, SAT Subject Tests, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, and Organic Chemistry section of the MCAT and quickly became a highly sought after tutor. Teaching continued to be a passion throughout graduate school and my engineering career, but I noticed a growing need to give informed answers to my students about college admissions. That prompted me to pursue a specialized certificate in college counseling at UC San Diego, to offer students a more complete service package. I have since brought collective wisdom from my studies, experience, and my counseling counterparts to fashion unique application strategies specific to my students.
I am also a materials science engineer by education and trade, and have relevant ties to the educational and corporate community in Silicon Valley. I have spent almost 20 years specializing in process engineering using six sigma problem solving and lean methods. I also have experience as an English Language Arts elementary school teacher, served many years as a church youth counselor and mentor, and have led STEM clubs at local elementary schools, reveling in inspiring young girls (and boys) to pursue their dreams in math and science.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters, and doing DIY projects around the house that take 10x longer than planned!
